Alen began his life in music at the age of five when his oldest brother bought him a single snare drum so they could “Jam” together. Mom quickly persuaded Alen to play the sax instead. For the next 20 years he studied with various teachers, played in jazz ensembles, show bands, rock bands and any other musical situation he could fit the sax into. There weren’t many limits!
As a keyboard player Alen has performed all over New England and Canada on stages ranging from the Marriot Hotels to Toronto’s Amphitheatre. After a 5 year hiatus from live performance (which was enough to drive any musician crazy) Alen began forming “The Unit” in July of 2007. But surrounding himself with some of the best talent in the state wasn’t enough- these musicians had to be talented, intelligent, energetic, driven and most of all, passionate about playing great music.
